Alcazar Theatre, Peachtree Street, Atlanta GA in 1912

Opened in 1909, the Alcazar was built from an existing storefront, it lacked some of the cruder appointments of the nickelodeon—it did not feature a pianola in the arcade or a loud phonograph outside—in order to project a more dignified image. It also featured a more elegant interior design and charged ten cents for admission, attracting the "'best' class of patrons since Atlanta's other theaters still charged five cents.
