Sculpture, Light Installation, Large scale motor-driven installation
The Swans Take Back Their Lake. Moving to the strains of Tchaikovsky, swans bedecked in tutus and ballet toe-shoes, glide back and forth on a moonlit lake in front of a fairytale castle. Created as a large-scale motor-driven clockwork ‘toy’, the movement of the two dimensional swans will be evocative of a merry-go-round. Designed by faculty from the Schools of Interior Design and Theatre, the project will be primarily a student-executed creation.
Design concept by Annick Mitchell (Interior Design faculty) and Sholem Dolgoy (Theatre faculty). Lighting by Sholem Dolgoy; scenic design by Tanit Mendes; tutu design and fabrication by Caroline O’Brien; and mechanical design by Ray Salvera (all Threatre faculty and instructors).
